Chandrodayam
The uncle referred in the post "Anda naal..." is no more today...
Two weeks earlier, he fell into coma after an accident in tiruchy just opposite to the Airport.
The next day, the doctors announced his demise.
We, are very close to them ... we have lived in the same colony , (our houses are just opposite to each other), for over 10 years.. and even after they left tiruchy we continued to be in touch with them on various ways..
We (including my granpa) used to call them "uncle" and "aunty" ..
After my grandma's death ( I was eleven months old then), they become a good guide and a close family friend to us. We were supported on all our difficulties during those days.
My Granpa was seen as an elder family person by them, and for many years we were celebrating diwali together..
The uncle was very fond of firing crackers during diwali.. they used to fire crackers for almost three days and also during the karthikai (two weeks after diwali) festival.
He was the first among the few to buy a television in our colony in the early 1980's. It was a portable Dianora..(if I remember the brand correctly). Aunty simply carried the television in the pillion of their bike.
From Disney's Mickey and Donald to Sunil Gavaskar to Shrikanth to Mianded's last ball six off Chetan Sharma, to Sivaji Ganesan's Mudal Mariyadai to Vayalum Vaazhvum ; all were seen & enjoyed in their drawing room with 8 to 10 ppl around always... ( We bought TV only after they left tiruchy)
The registration and first fee for my MCA admission was given by him as a loan. I had come to chennai on a different purpose , and the fee was to be paid immediately. He helped in time.
The last time I met him was in Feb 2006, during my flying visit to tiruchy.
Both uncle and aunty came to thiruvanaikoil to meet my mother.
" Chandrodayam" , is the name they had given to their house they built in tiruchy in our colony.. the name was coined from the names of uncle and aunty.
We all will miss him very much.
God Bless All.
