Reservations..

There was an article in Sunday Times this week ... titled "I am Brahmin... " ;
the following is in line with the emotions reflected in the article..

Politicians and Law Makers always talk about reservations in jobs in both private and govt sector.

Let us check the rationale behind the reservations..

They have a list of castes which they have categorised as forward, backward, most backward, scheduled etc.,

The reservations in any manner in jobs / admissions in colleges are based on the caste system.

Look at who are the beneficiaries..
Parents are doctors..son being from a favoured (lets call like that only na,,, favoured by
govt !!) caste get admission into mbbs even at lesser grades thrashing a chance of a deserving
candidate.
Family is in a good business, entire set of children get into plum jobs just being from a
favoured caste class, again seizing the chance of deserving candidates who really require a
job for their living without much family background.

The Loosers.. are the ones who by birth are from forward castes..!!
Now what forward really mean.. ? Untochable for jobs and least priority for admissions in
professional courses despite being deserving.. ?

The reservation based on caste system is never going to work in the correct way..
The reservation should be based on economical condition / family background and not mere caste certificates..

Now, what will happen if caste based reservation is to continue..

"A section of economically backward brahmins will start pressing government to include their caste in to backward or most backward category te be among the favoured caste lists... "

Thats how the author also ends his article... tried to fetch the article in net to provide the link.. was not successful in finding that..!!

Any way the article brought out some of the fade memories of my school days..on scholorship, free note books, etc., to wards of rich and moderate parents, as they were from scheduled caste.

On the other hand, few of my poor classmates whose father either was running a barber shop , or was an auto driver never used to get any such kind of support from governement (though sometime our school administration was helping them through other means)

Now see, who is talking about seculirism.. the one who endorses reservation in jobs and admissions !!

This is called as double standard.!!

Remember, we only have voted them to power..
Also remember, elections are round the corner in many states..

Remember, seculirism and reservation are the important tools available with parties to run the business..

Remember, elections are the right time to show our viewpoint..

Remember, if you don't vote, it will be cashed by parties.
Remember to Vote..!!!
