Mohammed R(ela)servations

The whole country is burning over the issue of reservations ; Quite evidently, politicians propose quota, and reservations for their political mileage and there is not going to be any benefit to those who really need it.. if one really wants to uplift the needy, device a system, where by the financial burden are taken care by the govt...no body is going to oppose it ... but quota is totally bad politics Another way of divide and rule.. Already had my emotions reflected some time back in the post Reservations on 12th April 2006 ; Today read an article in Times of India on the preposterous move of govt on quota, opined by none other than a 1975 MBBS entrance examination "quota" candidate; Today a Top renowed liver transplant expert ; Great People Think alike.. :)

Entertainment

" Kannum Kannum Kalandhu.." Yesterday, after reaching home in the evening, i get to see second half of "Vanjikottai Vaaliban" (1958) in some TV channel. Came the song sequence of "Kannum Kannum Kalandhu" (C Ramachandra) before the climax of the film. The song was so entertaining, as it used to be always ; I literally was shouting "Sabaash Sariyana Poati" along with PS Veerapa when Vyjyanthimala started dancing. I don' t know much about classical dance. But I must say, the dance sequence was really a feast to eyes ; The composition was so good and rich , and there were no electronic musical equipments in those days ; Luckily the song is available in net, one can check the above link to enjoy the song; "Thatti Pathen Kottankuchi.. " After the film was over, i switched to Sun Tv where, TR was campaigning in Erode for DMK with his usual "Edhugai & Monai " (Rhyming) dialogues ; He ended his campaign with a story; It was ab...

The 99 Club

A mail Forward worth spending time reading.. Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content. One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King; why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy in his life. The King asked the servant, "Why are you so happy?" The man replied, "Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much - just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies." The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club." "The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired....
